Buttermilk Basin Collective Gathering! Fall 2024 Excelsior Spring MO

A truly transformative space, the 414 Company {also where our 2nd retail location will be home to} is the perfect venue to hold our “Buttermilk Basin Collective Gathering” 3 Day Curated Handwork Event + Vintage Market Place + Daily Creative Lifestyle Workshops.

It’s conveniently located 1/2 hour NE of Kansas City and 45 minutes South of Hamilton MO.  It’s also owned by my bestie, Brenda & her husband Mark Kilgore, who just happen to be amongst the “pick of the crop” in the vintage world!  They are currently set up in Round Top, TX - but you will have the privilege to shop their vintage goods first hand at their shop, 414 Company!

The atmosphere this venue creates for those of us whose designs are inspired by the past is unbeatable!  You know I love to be on the forefront of something big & exciting so this event will be unlike no other!  The festivities including curated workshops & epic events start on Tuesday, Sept 17th (my husbands birthday- sure there may be cake involved) and go thru Saturday, Sept 21st.  And the best part- anyone who loves vintage goods can come and enjoy being surrounded by inspiration and can even sit down and make a small project without any skills!  We want everyone to have the opportunity to be inspired!

Each day, 3 floors of the store will be open to the public for you to shop, take workshops, enjoy demos, and take in special events, including one of 2 trunk shows from Edie McGinnis, who is former associate editor of Kansas City Star Quilts.  Exciting!

My team {and some good girlfriends} will also be rolling out the red carpet for you!  We will be bringing you a “reinvented” version of Woolstock,  called “Buttermilk Basin Collective Gathering” to you in MO!  Basically it’s a marriage of Buttermilk Basin and my love for Vintage Goods!   After all, I did write “57 Buttermilk Acres”,  which is still my most beloved book I’ve written & features my styled modern farmhouse!

The event will be centered around our 3- Day Curated Handwork Event where you will enjoy creating projects in wool & cotton.  This will be similiar to Woolstock, but reinvented!  Not only will you be creating & stitching, you will also be able to take part in various pre-event classes and evening offerings which include scrappy appliqué with Jodi or embroidery with Joey, for example!

Besides having the wonderful opportunity to teach, I will also be sharing my other passion with you which is my love for vintage & home styling!  I’ll take snippets from my book and show you how to style your BB finishes around some of my vintage pieces and even inspire you with fall tablescapes & place settings - while Hannah shares her love for charcuterie or grazing boards and more!  We can’t wait to get you all the details as soon as we can!  We already have had people sign up sight unseen!  We are so excited!

We will also have fun and exciting mini-events happening in the Market Place which include Make + Take where you can enjoy creating small projects to take home with you- no creative skills needed!!

My friends & I will also be sharing our curated & creative lifestyle with you through workshops such as “Ideas for Creating a Simple Fall Tablescape & Place Settings”, “How To Set A Fabulous Pie Buffet Table for Thanksgiving” to “Curating a Grazing Station” where you will learn from experts Brenda Kilgore, Cath Scadden {Cottage Home} as well as Hannah & I!  Of course, there will be vintage items that we will be using that will be available for purchase and new items, that you will want once you see what we do with them!!!

This is also where you can shop endless hours in a much larger curated space filled with home goods, vintage wares & all things Buttermilk Basin!  Basically….we’re packing up the store in MN and setting up shop for the week in MO!

So please grab a few friends, come, rejuvenate your creativity and spend some time exploring all that our Market Place has to offer!  This is where inspiration begins!

All the specifics (excluding class project pictures) will go up on our website April 1st!  The class projects will follow and be up by May 1st.  We are on the road doing shows 3 of the weeks in April!  So hang tight in the meantime!
